Inanimate:   i   singular

             ni  plural

Animate:     o   singular

             gi  plural

The singular prefix must accompany the singular version of an object.

Example:  Ni pi je i wawen?

Likewise for the plural example:  Ni pi je ni wawnon?

The same rule applies to animate objects.

Singular:  Ni pi je o gigo?

Plural: Ni pi je gi gigosek?

Ngi gbashmak gi bidiyek

Now let’s use one of the cooking terms that can be used either animatedly or inanimately:

Animate:

    Bodakwen o bidi

    Bodakwen gi bidiyek

Inanimate:

    Bodakwen i weyas

    Bodakwen ni pegegnen

Some more phrases:

Ngi zaskokwadanen ni pekwasen

Ngi bidakewebnan i weyas

Ngi bidapkewebnanen ni pekwasen

Ngi gbatonen ni pekwasen

When you add weyas to the end of gokosh, it becomes inanimate.

Example:  ni pi je i gokosh weyas?

The same is true if any meat part is added on to the end/suffix.

Example:  ni pi je ni gokosh pekwasen?

The same rule applies to all animals that we eat.

Animate:

Ngi zaskokwanak gi gigosek
