Some Winter thoughts.

Éjajibtebyan éwabdeman i gon ébgeshnon i ngom

As I sit today watching the snow fall

Égi yajmowat gi kékyambnek mégwe pi

This is what the elders told us a long time ago

Gi widmowat wa je zhewébek shote pi

They told us this would happen hereabouts

Ode se she éwidmoyak gode wpenojéyek

This is what we tell our children

I ye ode énendemyan éjajibtebyan odo pi

This is what I think about as I sit here at this time

Ékiwadziyan énendemyan ode

I feel lonely thinking about this

Nangodgen ébaknegazoyan ébidnendemyan

Sometimes I am a prisoner of my thoughts

I gon ébgeshét éwabdeman égme pon

I watch the snow fall every year

Éngezot éwabdeman i gon éngweshkat

And I watch it melt away

Éwabdeman ni waskonédok ébaknegazowat

I watch the flowers open themselves

Éwabdeman émbowat iw pi epij zhatémget

I watch them die when it becomes hot

Éwabdeman Ojigenang éwidmoshet iw pi wa zhewébek

I watch the Fisher Star and he tells me when this will happen

Igwan gi kékyajek gi widmoashek ngotek

The elders told us these things at one time

Megwa ngom éjibtebyan éwabdeman ébgeshet i gon

So I sit today and watch the snow fall
