Indian Princesses?

Neaseno Perrot

A simple response to this article: I have never accepted this concept of Indian Princesses! If there are or were princesses, then there must have been princes too, and kings, and queens, and lords and all the rest of that royalty stuff… on and I do believe this title needs to be retired and something more traditional to the Native people needs to be used.

I was born on Powers Bluff in Wood County, Wisconsin, into a traditional community of Neshnabek. I was raised speaking only native languages, and learned to speak English upon entering school at the age of 6. As of this writing, I am one of 5 remaining Heritage Fluent Speakers of Potawatomi.
